COP31 BUSİNESS FORUM – BUSİNESS COMMUNİTY CONSULTATİON MEETİNG HELD

Esin Güral Argat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kütahya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KUTSO), attended the COP31 Business Forum – Business Community Consultation Meeting hosted by M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), with the participation of Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change.

Held at the TOBB Twin Towers, the meeting introduced the COP31 Business Forum, established following TOBB’s appointment as the COP31 Private Sector Envoy to coordinate the participation of the global business community in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), which will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya from 9–20 November. The meeting brought together umbrella organisations representing the business community, chambers and commodity exchanges, as well as private sector representatives.

In the opening session, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB; Fatma Varank, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change; Sarp Kalkan, Deputy Secretary General of TOBB; and Mustafa Levent Sungur, President of the Housing Development Administration of Türkiye (TOKİ), shared their assessments on sustainability, green transformation, climate policies and preparations for COP31.

Speaking at the meeting, Esin Güral Argat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KUTSO, emphasised the critical importance of the reliability and verifiability of sustainability data for global trade. She also shared her views on ongoing efforts to establish a common standardisation infrastructure for measuring and reporting sustainability data across Türkiye, the implementation of a centralised data platform through public–private sector cooperation, and support mechanisms aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
